What is a cult?

Cults and high-control groups can take many forms, and sometimes it can be difficult to identify if you were involved in one. Some common experiences among cult survivors include:

  • Spiritual or religious abuse: Manipulation and exploitation using religious or spiritual beliefs.
  • High control: Strict rules and regulations governing many aspects of members’ lives.
  • Coercive control: Tactics used to manipulate, isolate, and control members.

If you have experienced any of these, you are welcome to attend.

What this group is (and is not)

This group is:

  • A peer support space for adult survivors (18+) of cults and high-control groups.
  • A place to share experiences, listen, and connect with others who understand.
  • A supportive environment where participation is always optional and self-paced.

This group is not:

  • A substitute for professional therapy, counselling, or crisis support.
  • A place for recruitment, promotion of beliefs, or persuasive discussion.
